Mermaid Signature Production works with deaf/hoh talent to provide acting coaching assistance through various parts of the audition and performance process, including:

Monologue

  • Assist with translating monologue from English into ASL

  • Help actor find any hidden meanings or interpretations in the script

  • Assist with character study and development

Audition

  • Select appropriate comedy/drama monologue

  • Analyze the actor’s script, character development, and performance

  • Clean actor’s performances for any/all callback audition(s)

On-Set

  • Help actor with any last-minute script/translation needs on set

  • Ensure all ASL translations match the script/director’s intent

  • Collaborate with director to ensure that all ASL gestures are visible and understandable for each shot
